Background of the Study
Conflict prevention is a critical aspect of peacebuilding, aiming to address root causes of disputes and foster harmonious coexistence. Public relations (PR) plays an essential role in conflict prevention by promoting dialogue, fostering understanding, and engaging stakeholders. In Wukari Local Government Area (LGA), Taraba State, ethnic and communal tensions have highlighted the need for effective conflict prevention strategies. According to Ochefu and Danjuma (2023), PR strategies such as community engagement, media advocacy, and crisis communication can significantly contribute to conflict prevention by addressing misinformation and fostering mutual respect. This study explores the role of PR in conflict prevention in Wukari LGA, focusing on its strategies, challenges, and outcomes.

1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite efforts to prevent conflicts in Wukari LGA, recurring tensions often escalate due to poor communication, misinformation, and lack of trust among communities. These challenges undermine peacebuilding initiatives, leading to prolonged disputes and instability. This study examines how PR can address these issues, exploring its role in enhancing conflict prevention in Wukari LGA.
